*deep breath*

so i've been writing on and off, mainly taking particular passages from my journals (over a 12-year span) and transferring them to my computer. i'm on my last journal and hopefully will be done w/ it today. after that, i'll have the equally difficult/draining task of writing my corresponding essays, and also working on some extensive editing.

next week i'm going to spend a couple days with my uncle and aunt (my uncle's a writer so my hope is that he can read my work, give me feedback and - best case scenario - recommend my work to be published. i also want my aunt to read it b/c she offers great feedback).

the part that has me pretty nervous is that my writings are about my own experiences and many of them are not necessarily the most... um, well... many of my faults, poor character traits, etc. are contained in the pages. i'm not close to my uncle and aunt like that, so it would be information that they weren't aware of. it would most likely paint a picture of me that they probably wouldn't suspect. so as much as i look forward to getting feedback from them, it's definitely going to be a very vulnerable time.

but i'm taking deep breaths, and just turning it over, hoping/knowing that whatever's supposed to happen will.

Congratulations on your courage. I plan to do the same thing. I too have been writing in journals for years. I am composing a memoir of my life. Before I publish the book I am planning to have a dinner party for my closest friends and family members. I will give each of them a copy of the book and explain that there are parts of my life they do not know about. I am learning that EVERYONE has things they hide inside and EVERYONE has made serious mistakes that they are not proud of and would not repeat.

Best wishes and positive writing vibes are sent your way.
    Peace -
